You're right, rain. As much as I thought Paris' words regarding her father were real and poignant, it was still exploitative for the Jackson family to put her out there like that.

Sadly, I fear this is just the beginning of these children's exploitation. As much as Michael may have loved his children I'm not sure having his mother as their guardian is what is in their best interest. There is going to be an ENORMOUS interest in those kids and the Jackson's aren't necessarily against using media attention to benefit themselves. Joe, in particular, probably is already planning their future as entertainers. I hope I'm wrong but only time will tell.
Rain, don't you hate when other people try to undermine your wishes as a parent? A few months back my son wanted an IPOD touch. I said no, even though my son had the money I thought it was too much to spend at one time. So my mother buys it for him and tells me he can owe her. I was livid. I would have made him take it back but he already had downloaded stuff on it. It's hard enough being an effective parent but when people are trying to undo what your teaching your kids it makes it doubly hard.

I know the man is the family patriarch, but he's a pariah.....overbearing, manipulative, scheming, cheating, in it for his own good, cliche'd stage parent.......and now he'd like nothing better than to catapult his grandkids into stardom as well....there was a reason Michael did NOT want Joe near his kids....let's at least honor THIS request.....Joe said he and his wife should raise them...i heard he lives in Las Vegas while the rest of the family is in Encino...what the heck does that say to you?.....they are not together, and probably haven't been for awhile.....you know what, he may have been the Jackson 5 mgr but eventually because of their talent, they would have been discovered.....yes, he got the ball rolling and then because of his own greed, ditched the love and respect of his kids for the love of $$$.......i bet most of the kids feared the man........He should never be allowed to exploit MIchael's children... i feel sorry for these kids.......they will never have a minute's worth of peace.....

Very nice post Rainlillie. Whoever gets the children, I pray that they will be loved and well cared for, and NOT used.
Oh can I relate to relatives who have undermined our decisions made regarding our children. We allowed them very little access to television, only certain shows. Not only did certain relatives allow them to watch things i never would, I was informed by several, that I was a horrible mother, and was depriving them. Many years later, I can say that I am extremely proud of both of my girls, who have made very good decisions in life. Best of all, they will tell you that they do not feel as if they missed out on anything.
